Why I Built This Site
In 2023, I lost $2,400 in a single month following sportsbook recommendations from affiliate sites that I later found out ranked operators based on who paid the highest commission — not who actually paid out fastest or had the best lines. I was placing bets on Chiefs games through a book that took 11 days to process a $300 Bitcoin withdrawal. The site that recommended them had a "4.9/5 rating." That was the last straw.
I had been building websites professionally for six years at that point — started freelancing right out of Mizzou with a communications degree and taught myself front-end development. I figured: I know how to build sites, I know how to bet, and I know the difference between a real review and a paid placement. So I built Fancy's on 5th.
Every sportsbook on this site was tested with my own money. I deposit, I bet on real games — mostly Chiefs, Royals, Sporting KC, and Mizzou — and then I try to withdraw. If a site takes more than 48 hours for crypto or ghosts on customer support, it does not make my list. Period.
About Me
I grew up in Independence, Missouri — youngest of three. Dad drove a delivery truck, Mom worked the front desk at a dental office. I was the kid memorizing batting averages before I knew how to do long division.
After Mizzou, I kicked around a couple of marketing agency jobs in KC before going freelance as a web designer. I have been building sites for small businesses and startups for six years now, mostly from my home office in the Waldo neighborhood. My buddy and I split a house near Southwest Trafficway.
When I am not working or watching games, I am usually outdoors. I shoot photography on the side — mostly landscapes and street stuff around the KC metro. I do a lot of hiking at Swope Park and take camping trips down to the Ozarks a few times a year. I also have a borderline-obsessive relationship with fly fishing on the Current River.
My Teams
Season ticket holder since 2021. Every Sunday at the same sports bar on Southwest Trafficway.
Grew up going to Kauffman with my dad. Still believe this is our decade.
MLS might not be huge here yet but the atmosphere at Children's Mercy Park is no joke.
M-I-Z. March Madness season is when I go full degenerate on bracket props.
How I Review Sportsbooks
- Real account, real deposit. I sign up the same way any Missouri bettor would. No VIP access, no press accounts.
- Bet on real games. Chiefs, Royals, Mizzou, NBA — whatever is on that week. Minimum 20 bets over 3-5 days.
- Withdrawal test. I request a cashout and time it. If crypto takes more than 48 hours, that is a problem.
- Odds comparison. I compare lines on the same games across all 10 sites on the same day.
- Support test. I ask a basic question via live chat. Response time and accuracy both matter.
